We have an eight-year-old fear-aggressive dog who can’t tolerate most other dogs and fears most men, especially if they try to enter our home. After numerous vet consultations and two trainers, we finally hired Carter. We were at the end of the line with this precious dog because he was a liability we weren’t sure we could manage. We felt we might have to put this dog down as he couldn’t be rehomed responsibly. Carter turned the dog around and taught us how to manage this wonderful animal who, by the way, adores Carter. We still have to be cautious with him around other dogs and when we have male company but he is well behaved and his stress levels (as well as ours) have gone way down. He’s a happy dog. No stress barking, pacing, or guarding. And he trusts us to keep him safe. The transformation has been amazing. Carter truly is a dog whisperer and our family is grateful.

Wilde Acres has an incredibly professional, personable, and animal-loving group of staff. We took our dog, Finn, to a two-week training course and couldn’t be more impressed with how happy and well-behaved Finn became. Carter took time before we dropped Finn off to hear what we have been struggling with. Then we had a two-hour course afterward training us as dog owners, which I found incredibly helpful. We took Finn home, practiced, then a couple of weeks later we had an additional follow-up appointment to fine-tune our training with us and Finn. Their response time was also uncanny. Any time we had a question or had an upcoming appointment, they would respond very quickly and give us a reminder call before pickup and drop-off. We follow his Instagram account and you can see and hear how much they love all of their animals in their stories and it’s nice to see updates on our dog’s time at camp. You can tell how much Carter and his team care and continually have the drive to improve their facility and training. It is really reflected in the quality of their dog training. We are already planning on booking more sessions and wouldn’t want to board Finn anywhere else!

If you have a reactive dog and live in Maryland you NEED to go to Wilde Acres in Glyndon. Moose had some very serious reactivity issues with male dogs and there were a couple times that I was worried I was going to have to put him down because of it. We’ve been working so hard to help him by training every single day, going to group classes, and staying on top of it. It’s been a couple of months and he’s officially made a best friend named Socks and just had the most perfect reaction with a large, skittish, male dog who is staying next door. In the past, Moose would have likely tried to jump the fence and attacked the other dog. Instead, he listened to me, was calm, licked the other pup’s face, and ended up doing zoomies up and down the fence line for a solid 20 minutes. The entire staff at Wilde Acres is just phenomenal. They are passionate about what they do and I will always be grateful to them for what they’ve done for my best friend and me.

I couldn't be happier with our experience at Wilde Acres Roxie's 3-week board and train. Roxie is an 18 month old Bernedoodle, and I took her to two obediance classes as a pup and tried my best to continue her training at home, but Wilde Acres really tightened everything up. Our household is pretty quiet, and like a lot of "COVID puppies" she wasn't exposed to a lot of noise and commotion, so it seemed she was always in a state of anxiety (noises, people, distractions made her anxious/reactive). I sent them a nervous-Nellie dog, and she came home as a CALM, confident, well-behaved pup, who's able to just relax! We even had someone with a beard and a hat at the house today and there was NO reaction (normally she's fearful of men in general, and even more so if they're attached to a beard and a hat! She heels beautifully with an auto-sit, and does sits, downs, and stays perfectly! And her recall is amazing, even without the e-collar (though the e-collar got her right back from her favorite exploring grounds behind the row of arborvitae where she's out of sight from me). Jaymie, Megan and the rest of the staff couldn't be kinder, more knowledgeable or more helpful! Bonus is they also do grooming, and Stephanie did a wonderful job with her - she looks BEAUTIFUL! Thank you so much to Carter and all of the staff at Wilde Acres!
