Does your dog struggle with socialization, aggression toward other dogs/people, or fear about new environments? Are you looking for a dog training program to address specific issues such as leash reactivity or resource guarding? Do you have an adopted dog with behavioral issues resulting from their past experiences or lack of training?
Wilde Acres offers behavior modification training to help dogs overcome past traumas, learn appropriate behaviors in a new home, and become more confident and well-adjusted. Even if your dog might need this program, we encourage you to contact us. Earlier intervention equals better outcomes.
In a one-hour in-person private lesson, one of our expert trainers will assess your dog to determine how long they will likely need to stay for training. Your dog’s length of stay depends on its age and the issue’s severity.
After the private lesson is complete and your dog’s custom training plan is formulated, we will schedule your training retreat.
Your dog stays overnight at Wilde Acres for the duration of their training program to learn fundamentals and correct bad habits.
After training ends, you will receive the same number of private lessons as weeks of training your dog completed in order to reinforce what your dog learned during their behavior modification retreat.
If you don’t want to leave your dog with us overnight, we also offer Dog Day Training and Private Dog Training Lessons to help with your pet’s behavioral issues.
Carter and all of the people at Wilde Acres are super dedicated and genuinely love dogs and helping owners make a better life with their dogs. They trained my super reactive adult dog and I can now take her anywhere with confidence. A life changer- I enjoy this beautiful dog now and she is so happy.
I also have completed the puppy training program and have a well-behaved and happy Lab that I can take anywhere.
We board with confidence and my dogs go nuts as we approach the facility. Everything about the people and the facility and the methods they use will make you and your dog happy. Thank you Wilde Acres!!!LQ Jones
Deciding to enroll Cash in a board and train was our last ditch effort to keep him part of our family.
It’s now been one week since we brought Cash home and I’m speechless with the change in him. He walks beautifully now and is much easier to redirect in behaviors now. People can come to the house without being happily slammed into by a 70lb ball of excitement. We still have a lot of work to do to ingrain and advance these positive changes, but I now know it’s possible. Thanks to Alexis, Carter, and everyone at Wilde Acres, Cash is able to stay with our family where he belongs.Jackie Tombros
We took Chief to a number of trainers, spent way too much money and was even referred to a dog behavioral specialist by one of our previous trainers because they were convinced something was wrong with our dog. We eventually just had to change our lifestyle to accommodate the dynamic Chief brought into the family.
After 1 session with Carter, we saw a complete change in Chief's behavior. Before meeting Carter it was miserable taking Chief on a walk, he had horrible leash aggression, constantly pulled and always barked at other dogs. After multiple sessions it was like we had a completely different dog. We had hope that we could go back to doing the things we loved, with our dogs! Fast forward to today. We now go camping, hiking, running, and anything else you can imagine because of the tools Carter gave us. We cannot recommend Carter highly enough, he truly changed our life!Jon Honari
The longer your dog trains at Wilde Acres, the greater control you’ll have over their behavior throughout its life. Most dogs entering a behavior modification program will require 4 to 8 weeks of training. If your dog has bitten a human, the minimum stay is 4 weeks.
When you book, we’ll require a $300 deposit to schedule your consultation. This is applicable towards your first week of training. This is refundable within 7 days of your start date if you choose to cancel the consultation. The remaining balance will be due upon drop-off.
Every training retreat at Wilde Acres includes six follow-up sessions called Post Retreat Handler Classes. After a dog has completed a training retreat, both owner and dog are eligible to attend the weekly handler classes.
Handler classes are designed to help dog owners handle their dogs the way the Wilde Acres staff did, thus getting better behaviors. These classes will help owners feel completely confident in their dog and their skills. Wilde Acres staff recommends attending at least three handler classes.
