Reactive Dog Handler Class
Graduates of a Wilde Acres training program are welcome to join Carter for this hour-long class to improve on their handling skills to better communicate with their reactive dog. This class is offered as our continued commitment to providing the highest quality training and support for humans with dogs that exhibit reactivity.
At Wilde Acres, we recognize that managing dog reactivity—such as lunging, barking, or excessive excitement towards specific triggers (like other dogs, people, or objects)—is an ongoing process that requires consistent handling skills and practice. Our goal is to ensure the long-term success and well-being of all the dogs and handlers who are part of our community.
- Who is required to attend? Any client whose dog has completed a training program at Wilde Acres and has demonstrated or continues to exhibit reactivity.
- What is the class focus? This class will concentrate exclusively on refining your handling techniques, management strategies, communication skills, and environmental control necessary to safely and effectively navigate situations that trigger your dog’s reactive behavior.
- When is the class? The class will be held every Sunday morning at 8:30 AM. DO NOT FEED YOUR DOG BREAKFAST THE MORNING OF CLASS.
- Duration: The class runs for one hour.
- What you will need: any and all training tools your dog used for their training program (slip collar, slip leash, pinch collar, electronic collar). Treat pouch filled with breakfast, along with training treats for high-value rewards.
We believe this dedicated handler practice time will be invaluable in solidifying your skills and improving your dog’s progress.
