Designed for dogs ready to begin their journey as service dogs, these retreats are designed and led by Wilde Acres trainer Jen Hagarman, who has been training service dogs for over 15 years. Jen has a BS in Animal Behavior, Training, & Enrichment, which coupled with her passion for service dog work ensures that your dog is in the best possible hands.

A Service Dog Program is a great opportunity for those who want to get their dog trained and certified as a service dog or therapy dog. A service dog can help you or others dealing with a myriad of physical disabilities, chronic illnesses, and even mental health. Bringing a service dog to work, on day-to-day errands like going to the grocery store, on public transportation and planes can help some people achieve more independence, with a service dog performing specific tasks to help their handler directly.

Other skill sets in this category include Therapy Dog Training for dogs who go with their owners to daycares, schools, group homes, hospices, rehabilitation centers, hospitals, nursing homes, and more, where they offer physiological or psychological therapy to people other than their handlers. These dogs are typically friendly and easygoing with stable temperaments. While service dogs are working dogs who should not be petted by others while on duty, therapy dogs are encouraged to interact with others.
